Julia M. Williams

Associate

Julia M. Williams dedicates her practice to shareholder rights litigation, with an emphasis on shareholder derivative actions and corporate mergers and acquisitions class actions.  Since joining the firm, Ms. Williams has prosecuted numerous stock option backdating and subprime-related actions.

Ms. Williams has been a key player on litigation teams that have achieved significant results for her clients.  She was a member of the team of lawyers that litigated In re Juniper Networks, Inc. Derivative Litigation, achieving a $22 million contribution to the company and significant corporate governance reforms, and In re Sanminia-SCI Corporation Shareholder Derivative Litigation, achieving a $16.5 million recovery from the defendants to the company in addition to numerous corporate governance reforms.

Before attending law school, Ms. Williams worked as a financial analyst at a Fortune 500 company, where she prepared presentations and materials for board of directors and executive officer meetings, drafted company financial reports, and participated in the preparation of company financials and Securities and Exchange Commission filings.

Ms. Williams obtained her law degree from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law.  While in law school, she was managing editor for the Entertainment Law Review.  Ms. Williams also participated in Moot Court and was the recipient of numerous scholarships and fellowships.  Ms. Williams earned her Bachelor of Arts degree with honors in Political Science and Economics from the University of California, San Diego.
